Nails Of The Week - OPI The One That Got Away

This is from the Katy Perry collection, I didn't actually buy this colour but my Mum got the mini set and I loved it on her so had to borrow it. It's not the most unique colour but it is very pretty.

This is one of those colours that looks different depending on the lighting, it flashes between red, pink and purple. There is a lovely shimmer that seems to make the polish shine even in low level light. I might have to pick up a full size bottle of this for myself before it sells out!

Eye Of The Day - Nars Tzarine Duo

No full face photo today, I really wasn't happy with any of them! Tzarine is my most worn Nars duo, it's just so easy to wear and the colours blend together beautifully. In the pan the colours don't look as if they pair together that well but on the lid they work. If I am in a rush to get out the door and just want a simple eye look this is what I usually turn to.
Products Used:
UDPP
Golden shade from Tzarine on lid and under lower lashes
Grey from Tzarine on outer corners and crease
Mac Blanc Type as highlight
Mac Blitz and Glitz fluidline on upper lashline
Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara

I really should have curled my lashes, in the first photo you can hardly see them!

Accessorize Eye Dusts Haul

I know I was supposed to be on a no buy but I couldn't resist getting these, I just have no willpower! Whenever I am in Superdrug I always look at the Accessorize stand and usually there is something that catches my eye. I have looked at the eye dusts before but never purchased one. Today I noticed that they were all half price, at £1.50 how could I resist! I picked up 3 shades, the swatches are dry with no base.

This is an absolutely gorgeous colour, it's a purple/taupe with a beautiful shimmer running through it, I can see myself using this a lot.

Wild Moss is a gorgeous golden green, it reminds me of Mac's Golden Olive pigment.
This is a copper/brown, I am not sure if I will be able to pull of this colour but for £1.50 I was willing to take the risk! I think this would look gorgeous on someone with a darker skintone.

I am really impressed with the quality of these pigments, the swatches are two swipes at most with no base and they adhere to the skin really well. Have you tried any of these?

Nails Of The Week - Barry M Raspberry

For some reason this colour was an absolute nightmare to photograph, I must have taken at least 30 photos using all the different settings on my camera and still none of them were 100% accurate!

This was probably the most true colour of the bunch, on the nail it's a very deep almost blood red. Wear on this wasn't great, I had chips and tip wear by day 2 but I think that might be because my Seche Vite is on it's way out!

Face Of The Day Using Boots 17 and No7

On Wednesday it was me and my boyfriends first anniversary, we went out for a meal to celebrate. Mark really likes me wearing red lipsticks so I went for a brown smokey eye to compliment it. I am still absolutely loving the 17 Vintage palettes, they are such good quality eyeshadows. I think they have sold out now but you might still be able to find one somewhere.

Face:

No7 Poppy King Lipstick Haul and Review

I know I said I was going on a no buy but I had two No7 vouchers left and I couldn't resist picking up a couple of the new lipsticks from Poppy King for No7. I swatched all the colours and I really liked 4 of the shades but I only got two with the vouchers. I picked Intrigue and History.
History

History is a gorgeous classic red, it's not too orange or too blue toned and I really do think its a shade of red that would suit any skintone. It's a very sheer formula so can be worn lightly for daytime but can easily be built up to a bolder colour.
Intrigue

Intrigue is a pinky nude colour, on me its very much a my lips but better shade, if applied lightly it just gives a nice sheen and subtle colour to the lips but it can be built up to a slightly darker shade.
I really like the packaging, the material is similar to that used on the Butterfly Ball lipsticks but it feels slightly thinner. Looking at the two compared together the No7 one looks tiny but actually there is only .3 grams less producs.

These lipsticks are priced at £12 but if you have any No7 vouchers left over you can use them up until Saturday and get £5 off.

Nails Of The Week - Max Factor Angel Nails

I picked up a couple of the Max Factor lip tints the other day and currently in Boots if you spend over a certain amount you get a free gift. This nail colour was included in the bag. I haven't tried any Max Factor polishes before so thought I would give this one a go.

It's a VERY shimmery pink/champagne colour. It's pretty sheer, this is 3 coats with Seche Vit top coat. I do like the colour and the finish but if shimmer's not your thing then I would definately give this a miss. I am definately going to check out the other colours available in this range. If you have any suggestions please let me know!

Face Of The Day using some unloved and new products

I have been pretty bad with my make up spending this month and that needs to stop for awhile so I decided that today I would go through my collection and use some things that have been neglected.
I ended up going for a smokey green look on my eyes and I got to test out Illamasqua's Hollow as a contour.

The contour was a bit more noticeable in person but as you can see in the picture above it's very subtle and blends really nicely, am very impressed with it!
Products Used:
Face:
Bobbi Brown Corrector Light Bisque
Make Up Forever HD Foundation
Shu Uemura Colorless Setting Powder
Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment to Contour
Mac Shell CCB to Highlight
Nars Torrid Blush
Eyes:UDPP
Mac Metal-X Cream Shadow in Verdigris all over lid, blended in crease and under lower lashes
Dark colour from Nars Rajasthan Duo on outer corners and blended in crease
Mac Dream Maker Eyeshadow on inner corners
Mac Blanc Type as Highlight
Mac Blitz & Glitz Fluidline on upper lashline
Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara
Lips:
Mac Spice Lip Pencil
Mac Marquise D' Lipstick

I know a lot of people complain about the Metal-x shadows creasing but I didn't find that at all, I always put Urban Decay Primer Potion on first no matter what I use on my eyes so that probably helped.

I am not allowing myself to buy any make up for the rest of this month, hopefully this will give me a chance to re-discover some products in my stash!

Nails Of The Week - Illamasqua Purity and Barry M Nail Effects

Purity is one of the items I received in my goody bag from the Illamasqua event. It's an incredibly bright peach cream. It is completely opaque in two coats and as usual with Illamasqua polishes lasts really well.
I actually don't like it on my skin tone at all. I think on someone with darker skin it would look amazing. But I didn't want to take it straight off so I tried putting Barry M's instant nail effects crackle polish on top.
Now this I like, I think with the black on top I can get away with this colour and I think they contrast really well. It's also a great colour for nail art as it's so pigmented.

So although I don't like the colour on me on it's own I think it will be a valuable tool in my kit!

Illamasqua Toxic Nature Haul

I think Toxic Nature is my favourite Illamasqua collection so far, the products are so unique and inspiring. After the event there were 3 items that were on my wishlist and as soon as the collection was released I had to pick them up.

Cream Pigment in Hollow: Being as pale as I am I really struggle finding contour colours, this seems as though it will be perfect. I also think this will work well as an eyeshadow base.
Precision Ink in Glister: This is such an incredibly unique product that I just had to get it. It's described as an anti-liner as it's a nude shade but as I am so pale it's not completely nude on me. I have found that if you let it dry and then buff it lightly the shimmer really comes to the surface as you can see in the right swatch. Can't wait to wear this at the weekend.
Lipstick in Atomic: I think this was the thing I was looking forward to the most. This is such a unique colour because of the blue shimmer, blue also helps to make your teeth look whiter which is always a bonus! This does feel quite dry when you first apply it but it doesn't seem to dry my lips out once it's on, because of this it does show up any dry patches so applying a lip balm first is a must. It's incredibly pigmented, the swaches are literally one swipe straight from the bullet.

Have you got anything from this collection?

Kiss Nail Art Haul And My First Attempt

I have been getting more into nail art lately, mainly due to reading Leanne's blog, I saw these Kiss Nail Artist sets in Superdrug and had to pick them up. Each set comes with either stencils or nail guides and stick on gems.

As you can see the brushes are incredibly fine which makes them quite easy to use and control.
Onto my first attempt, its not perfect but I'm sure it will get easier with practise.
I used Mavala's Rococo Red as the base colour, then used the tip guides and painted the tips black and went over the edges with the silver glitter. The pigmentation on all the shades I have tried so far has been really good, I would definitely recommend these sets.

Revlon Lipstick Haul - Peach, Revlon Red and Fire And Ice

Last week I popped into Boots on my lunch break and saw that Revlon was on 3 for 2. I have been wanting to try Fire And Ice lipstick since Hellcandy recommended it at the Illamasqua event so picked that and a couple of other lipsticks.
I have been trying to find more neutral colours that suit me and thought I would give this a try, I actually really like it. It's a gorgeous subtle peach that is perfect for everyday. I like the texture of the Colorburst lipsticks, they are not particularly long lasting but they are quite moisturising so I don't mind re-applying.
This is absolutely gorgeous, its a very bright blue toned red, the lip swatch has washed it out slightly, I would say the hand swatch with flash is the most true to colour. I find these lipsticks to be incredibly long lasting and very pigmented.
And finally Fire and Ice which is the one I knew I wanted, it's more of an oranged toned red and is incredibly bright. It is a gorgeous colour and a welcome addition to my red lipstick collection!

Boots No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser Review

As the weather is slowly getting warmer I wanted to pick up a new tinted moisturiser. I find that in the summer months liquid foundations can feel too heavy on my skin and have a tendency to slip off.  I know I have a few months before the warm weather arrives but I wanted to find one I was happy with. I had a £5 off No7 voucher in my purse so thought I would pick up their one to try. This was £12.50 so I only paid £7.50 with the discount. It also contains SPF15 which is a bonus.
There are 3 shades available and being as pale as I am I picked up fair. I can just about get away with this, its a touch too dark for me but it isn't noticeable once its blended in.

For a tinted moisturiser this is very thick, it applies similarly to a foundation and does actually give a decent amount of coverage.

Blended on my hand you can see that it is a shade to dark but as I said on my face it really isn't that noticeable.

So far I am quite impressed with it, it ticks all the boxes I was looking for in a tinted moisturiser. My main gripe with it is the colour selection. 3 shades is just not enough, it is never going to suit everyone! I know that with tinted moisturisers you can usually get away with it not being a perfect match as they are sheerer but this one does give slightly more coverage so it could cause a problem for some people. Overall I am happy that I purchased it, I don't think I would have paid full price for it but with the discount I think it is good value.

Do you have a favourite tinted moisturiser?

Nails Of The Week - MAC Biker Blue

As soon as I saw the promo images for this colour I knew I had to have it, it's a gorgeous blue with shimmer. I have read that it contains blue and purple shimmer but on the nail I really can't see any purple but I do see green! It's not the most unique colour I own but it's just such a me colour! It is quite sheer and I had to apply 3 coats for it to be opaque.

The shimmer is very subtle in low level lighting but really shines in sunlight or brighter lighting. Am glad I picked it up.

My Most Used Products

I own an absolutely ridiculous amount of makeup but even though my collection is constantly growing I still find myself going back to some old faithfuls and re-purchasing. These products are my go to items that I always rely on if I don't know what to use.
Nars Laguna Bronzer: I am really pale, 99.9% of the time I am the lightest shade of foundation available and so I have always been a bit scared of bronzer. It was only once I started exploring the world of makeup I realised that I could even get away with using it. Laguna was my first purchase and one that I will definitely go back to once this one runs out, which I don't think will be long as there is so much pan showing! I use this as an all over bronzer, it just helps me look a bit more alive!

Revlon Colourstay Foundation: I own about 5 different foundations and this is the one I reach for the most and its the cheapest! This gives great coverage and tends to last on my skin well. I prefer applying this with my fingers as I find that using a brush applies it too heavily and makes it a lot harder to blend into the skin.

Mac Mineralise Skin Finish Natural: I love the finish this gives to my skin, it sets my foundation without making me look as though I am caked in makeup. I have combination skin and get oily on my t-zone and dry in other areas, this keeps the oil at bay for a good few hours and doesn't highlight any dry skin I may have.

Urban Decay Primer Potion: I have no idea how I lived without this for so long. I never apply eyeshadow without using it. I have tried other primers but I still go back to this one every time as I don't feel that anything else performs as well for me. I can apply my eyeshadow in the morning and I know that my eyeshadow will still look good when I come to taking it off before bed.

Illamasqua Hussy Bush: This is my all time favourite blush, its incredibly pigmented so only a tiny amount is needed for me to achieve a perfect natural looking flush. It lasts so much longer than all the other blushes I own that it's the one I always reach for when I know I have a long day ahead of me.

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque: My dark circles are one of the things that bug me the most, I am constantly on the search for "the" under eye concealer that will erase them. This one is the best I have found so far.

Mac Under Your Spell Mineralise Eyeshadow: This is the only eyeshadow I keep in my handbag. If I am in a rush I know I can use this eyeshadow on its own with a bit of black liner. This was a limited edition product and you can see the huge dip forming in it, I will have to find a replacement for it soon!

Covergirl Lashblast Mascara: I love this in all its different formulas, currently I am using fusion but once this is finished I have a tube of Luxe waiting for me. These are such good value and I honestly find they work better for me than any of the high end mascaras I have tried. Unfortunately they are not available in the UK but luckily for me I have a friend in the USA who sends them to me!

Mac Hot Gossip Cremesheen: This is such an easy colour to wear, it's a gorgeous pink with a subtle shimmer/sheen. As its a cremesheen it doesn't dry out my lips and I can go a good 3-4 hours without needing to re-apply.

YSL Rouge Volupte No 9 Pink Caress: Yes this was ridiculously expensive but I love the colour and it is so pigmented that I think it will last forever, or at least till it goes off! This is the most long lasting of all the lipsticks I own.

MacBlack Russian Pearlglide Liner: I love the formula of the pearlglides, they are so soft and easy to apply. They have great staying power too. This is another limited edition product but it has been re-promoted so hopefully it will be re-released before this one is sharpened down to nothing!

So those are my most used products, I would love to know what yours are!
