Nars Make Up Your Mind Lip Set First Impressions and Swatches

This is the other set I got along with the new book, it comes with 4 lip products all in different forms. In the set you get Orgasm lip gloss, Roman Holiday Lipstick, Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Pencil and Bangkok Pure Matte Lipstick. The set works out much cheaper than buying the products separately and its also a great way of trying out the different formulas.

Here are some quick lip swatches of the colours, on top with flash and without underneath

I actually really like all of the colours in the set, my favourite has to be Roman Holiday lipstick, its such a gorgeous colour for the summer and i have already been reaching for it most days!

Nails Of The Week - Sally Hansen Pedal To The Metal

When I was in Boots the other day I noticed they had a new range of Sally Hansen Polishes called Complete Salon Manicure, I couldn't resist picking up a couple to try. The first one I put on was Pedal To The Metal which is a gorgeous silver with lilac tones to it. This is the first silver I have found that I am happy with on my skin tone. It is a very metallic colour so I did get some visible brush strokes but I can live with that!
The wear on this was pretty good, I had it on for 4 days and I only had minimal tip wear. Have you tried out any colours from this range?

Nars Make Up Your Mind Eyes Set And Face Of The Day

I couldn't resist ordering the new book from Francois Nars, I ordered it from the Nars website and at the same time got a couple of the sets released with the book. The first one I wanted to show you is the Eyes set. In the box you get a 6 eyeshadow palette, mascara, travel size smudgeproof eye base and travel size make up remover.

Left to right: Abyssinia, Silk Road 2, Strada
Galapagos, Fuji, Brumes 2

All of the shades in the eyeshadow palette are new to me so I am looking forward to having a play with them! I am really looking forward to testing out the smudgeproof eyeshadow base, as much as I love my UDPP it can be a pain to blend shadows so will be testing this out to see how it compares.

Here is a quick face of the day I did using the palette

First Impressions and Face Of The Day Using Nars Taiga

Taiga is a duo I have wanted for a long time and a bad day at work resulted in it finally coming home with me. I was really looking forward to using it as the colours are gorgeous but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The duo is a light champagne paired with a pewter/green with gold sparkle. The champagne shade hardly showed up on me, I had to apply it wet to get any colour payoff at all. The other shade is decently pigmented. I haven't really experienced this with any other Nars eyeshadows. I am going to experiment a bit more with layering it and using different bases to see if I can get it to work. But anyway here is today's face.

You can see in the close up that even used wet the champagne shade doesn't really show up!

Products Used:
Face:
Bobbi Brown Corrector Light Bisque
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Nails Of The Week - OPI Guy Meets Galveston Plus Bundle Monster Stamp

My Mum very kindly got me the OPI special value on QVC the other day, this was one of the colours in the set. It's a jelly finish pink/red/coral. It's pretty sheer and needed 3 coats to be completely opaque but I love the colour. I ordered the new set of Bundle Monster plates on Amazon and decided to test one of the full nail designs out.
This is such a pretty, summery design and I had so many people ask me where I had got it done lol! The new bundle monster plates are definitely an improvement on the last set, I highly recommend them as they are so cheap, £16.99 for 25 plates, i will get a full review of them up next week.

Rimmel 8 Hour Colour Mousse in Sassy Review and Face Of The Day

I saw this featured in one of Lisa Eldridge's videos on youtube and thought it looked gorgeous so I popped into Boots and got myself one. Sassy is a gorgeous taupe colour with a beautiful sheen. They have a bit of an odd texture, they are called Colour Mousse but to me that makes me think of a light whipped product whereas this is more of a thick liquid, that being said it applies really evenly and blends out beautifully. It dries quite quickly to an almost powder finish so you need to work fairly quickly to blend it out. This actually looks gorgeous on its own and is really fast to apply. They come in glass jars but the glass is very thick so is pretty sturdy, they have a little black insert covering the product, this helps to keep it airtight and prevents it from drying out.
The swatch above is swatched heavily on the left and blended out on the right.
This was pretty much my everyday look while I was on holiday last week as it was so quick and easy!
Products Used:
Face:
Bobbi Brown Corrector Light Bisque
No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser
Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment as contour
Mac Studio Fix Powder
Illamasqua Hussy Blush
Eyes:
UDPP
Rimmel Colour Mousse Sassy on lid, crease and under lower lashline
Mac Charcoal Brown in crease and outer corners
Mac Blitz & Glitz Fluidline on upper lashline
Covergirl Lashblast
Lips:
Beauty UK Lipstick in Snob

I was so impressed with this I went back and picked up a couple more shades, I haven't tried it without primer underneath but with UDPP I wore it from 10am until about 11pm and it hadn't creased at all.

Face Of The Day Featuring Nars Exotic Dance Duo

I had no intention of picking up Exotic Dance but I went into Space NK on Friday, swatched it and somehow it ended up coming home with me! Although these shades don't look that special in the pans I really don't think I own colours that are exactly like these. The white shade is very shimmery and can apply a bit patchy but if you pat the colour on you get a much more even application, you can get a bit of fallout with this shade so I prefer to do my eyes before foundation. The gold shade is very pigmented and applies true to colour in pretty much one swipe. This is a very wearable duo and I think I will get a lot of use from it.

Nails Of The Week - Miss Sporty 302

As I have been getting more in to nail art lately I decided I needed to try some brighter nail colours. I didn't want to spend too much on them as these are definitely out of my comfort zone so I decided to pick up 3 Miss Sporty colours in Superdrug on 3 for 2. I am so glad I did, this colour is gorgeous, it's perfect for summer! It's number 302 which I think is called Paparazzi (the name isn't on the bottle) and its a beautiful bright pink.
The application was really easy, it was completely opaque in two coats and lasted a good 5 days with only minimal tip wear. I will definitely be going back for more from this range!

Nars Dogon Swatches, Review and Face Of The Day

As soon as I heard about the new Nars summer collection I knew I had to get Dogon. I have an obsession with Taupe and after hearing how impressed everyone that saw this duo at the preview event was I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The duo consists of a taupe with a green iridescence/duochrome and a charcoal with a very subtle shimmer. The taupe is gorgeous on it's own but looks even more gorgeous layered over the charcoal.
Left to right: Charcoal, Taupe, Taupe over charcoal

People have been comparing this to Club from Mac, it is similar in that it is a brown based shade with a green duochrome but as you can see from the swatch they are not really similar at all.
Nars Dogon on left, Mac Club on right

I finally got a chance to wear this duo this morning and I love it! Please excuse how tired I look in these photos, they were taken when I got home from work. The good thing is it has shown how well the products last as this is about 12 hours after I put my makeup on and the only things I touched up were the powder and lipstick.

Products Used:
Face:
Bobbi Brown Corrector Light Bisque
Bourjois Bio Detox Foundation
Mac Studio Fix Powder
Mac Sakura Blush
Eyes:UDPP
Nars Dogon charcoal shade in crease and outer corners
Nars Dogon taupe shade on lid, crease and under lower lashes
Mac Blanc Type as highlight
Gosh Long Lasting Eyeliner Pen Green on upper lashline
Covergirl Lashblast Mascara
Lips:Beauty UK Lipstick in Snob

I also picked up the Cap Ferrat trio so will post a look using that soon!
