Face Of The Day - Sparkly Smokey Bronze

This look was inspired by Tanya Burr's birthday make up video which I'm sure you have already seen, but if not you can find it here. I didn't use exactly the same products as I don't own them all but I found suitable replacements in my stash!
In the area I live we are having lots of Olympic celebrations and I got tickets to a concert so decided to try out this look. I really like how it came out.

Face Of The Day - Silver and Brown

This look was inspired by one of my favourite girls on youtube, I have been subscribed to Haley (colormemakeup) for a couple of years now and was really happy to see her pop back up in my subscription list with a new video! This made me go back and look through her older videos and I had to do this look. It's a gorgeous silver and brown smokey eye.

Beauty UK Baked Eyeshadow Trio Earth Review, Swatches and Comparisons

I used this Beauty UK Trio in my face of the day yesterday but I felt that it deserved a post of its own. I picked this up in Superdrug for £3.99 and I am really impressed with the quality of it. There are 6 trios available, I picked the Earth trio which is the most neutral as I felt I would get the most use out of it, I am definitely going back to pick up a couple more now though.

In the trio you get a light champagne, taupe and a lighter brown/gold. These are baked shadows so can be used wet or dry depending on the intensity you are going for. That being said I have found these to be really well pigmented and haven't felt the need to use them wet. These are shimmery though so if you prefer matte shades then you might want to give this a miss, personally I like a bit of shimmer!

Swatched in the same order as in the pans, these are literally one swipe with my finger without any base, they are nicely pigmented and adhere to the skin really well.

I couldn't help but compare this to a few higher end shadows that I own which are priced a lot higher.

Above are the Beauty UK Earth Trio, Stila Champagne Glow Trio and Nars Exotic Dance Duo

These are not dupes of each other as the colours are slightly different but the texture and pigmentation is pretty much the same. The Stila trio is currently on sale for $28 on sephora.com

This was a bit more of a shock, it's not a 100% dupe but it's not far off! The gold is slightly browner and the white is not quite as bright in the Beauty UK trio but applied on the eyes I struggled to see a difference. Actually the white in the Beauty UK duo applies more evenly then the Nars as it seems to adhere to the skin better. The Nars Duo retails for £23.50.

I can be a bit of a make up snob at times but this just goes to prove that a higher price tag doesn't always mean better quality!

Nars Make Up Your Mind Eyes Set And Face Of The Day

I couldn't resist ordering the new book from Francois Nars, I ordered it from the Nars website and at the same time got a couple of the sets released with the book. The first one I wanted to show you is the Eyes set. In the box you get a 6 eyeshadow palette, mascara, travel size smudgeproof eye base and travel size make up remover.

All of the shades in the eyeshadow palette are new to me so I am looking forward to having a play with them! I am really looking forward to testing out the smudgeproof eyeshadow base, as much as I love my UDPP it can be a pain to blend shadows so will be testing this out to see how it compares.

My Favourite Blushes

I thought I would share my favourite blushes of the moment, these do change but right now I am loving these.

On to the swatches, I have put a heavy swatch on the left and a blended one on the right in all photos.

I think pretty much every make up addict owns this blush, it was my first Nars purchase. I don't know that it is worthy of all the hype that surrounds it but I do still really like it. It's a beautiful peachy pink with gold shimmer. I know there are a few drugstore dupes of this available.

I think if I had to choose just one blush this would be it. It looks scary in the pan as its a very bright pink verging on red but blended on the cheeks it's just gorgeous. On me it is a perfect natural flush. This is very pigmented though so a light hand is essential.

I love and hate this blush, its a beautiful muted pink colour that looks gorgeous when blended in but I have a bit of a problem with the formula, it's quite sticky and I just don't really like the feeling if it on my face. It is a convertible colour so is designed to be used on lips as well as cheeks which is probably why it has the texture that it does. Once it is blended in it does lose the stickiness but it does still put me off slightly.

This is my favourite cream blush, it is a perfect peachy/pink colour. I find it really easy to work with as it blends like a dream and it lasts really well on the skin.

This is a pretty new addition to my collection, its a lovely pinky/peach. I am impressed with the formula of this and find that it is very long lasting. It looks a lot more orange in the picture than it does in real life.

I was recommend this blush by one of the MUA's in the pro store and it's a lovely pink, again a light hand is needed as it is very easy to apply too much and end up with clown cheeks! My only issue with this blush is the staying power, I find that it does fade throughout the day more than some of my other blushes.

This was another one that was recommended to me, I would probably never have picked this one on my own as it looks a bit too orange in the pan but I'm glad I listened. I do find this one slightly more tricky to apply though as it is easy to end up looking tangoed!

Are there any must have blushes I am missing here? Any recommendations for me?

Face Of The Day - A Classic Bridal Look

This is a look that I was taught when I went on the Academy Of Freelance Makeup's foundation course as a classic bridal look, it was one of the days I was most looking forward to as bridal makeup is something I would love to do professionally. It uses mostly Matte shadows, we were told that high shimmer eyeshadow doesn't always photograph well and that its better to use matte colours and then add a shimmery highlight were appropriate. I think this is a great look for when you want to look polished but not over the top.

Face of Sunday - Bronze and Burgundy

On Sunday I decided to straighten my hair for the first time in about a year, honestly I don't like it straight! I used to do this everyday and I really have no idea why! My hair is so fine that when I straighten it it's just so flat, I prefer my curls! Anyway on to the makeup, I decided I wanted to use products I don't always reach for and so this is the result, I'm not sure about it actually. I changed the lip product before the photos as once again I couldn't find the one I was wearing earlier and I fancied playing with the Lip Tars but the look would have been better with a more neutral lip.

Face Of The Day - Neutral eye with Stila

I finally got round to using the Stila Eyeshadows I got in my Brandalley haul, these are such gorgeous colours, very shimmery and pigmented. They remind me off the Mac mineralise eyeshadow duo's but a bit more pigmented. It lasted really well too, no fading and the eyeshadow still looked as good when it was time to remove it. As you can see in the pictures I still have the reverse racoon look going on thanks to Make Up Forever HD powder, this has been a bit of a dissapointment. I love the effect it gives and it looks great in the flesh but really reacts badly under the camera flash.
