Face Of The Day - Sparkly Smokey Bronze

This look was inspired by Tanya Burr's birthday make up video which I'm sure you have already seen, but if not you can find it here. I didn't use exactly the same products as I don't own them all but I found suitable replacements in my stash!
In the area I live we are having lots of Olympic celebrations and I got tickets to a concert so decided to try out this look. I really like how it came out.

Face Of The Day - Golden Bronze

It was my Nan's 82nd birthday on Monday so we went out for a family dinner, it was a bit of a hard day as it was also the first anniversary of my Uncles death so obviously Nan was upset, we tried our best to cheer her up and we spoke about happy times. In the end I think she managed to enjoy the day as much as she could.
I went for a gold/bronze eye and pink lip.

Face Of The Day Featuring Mac Dynamic Duo 3

I had two Debenhams gift cards burning a hole in my purse from my birthday back in March, they had a 10% off event online so I used them to buy some Mac! Can I just say how ridiculous Debenhams checkout is, I had 2 cards totalling £45 but you can only use one method of payment so if you are using a gift card you have to have enough on the card to cover the whole purchase. So in the end I had to place 2 separate orders (it was free delivery) which ultimately would cost Debenhams more! Anyway on to what I got, I picked out the Dynamic Duo 3 which is absolutely gorgeous, its a purple/taupe (veluxe pearl) and teal (matte). Both colours are nicely pigmented and although I wouldn't have thought of pairing them together they work really well.

I have had a bit of a play with the layout of my blog and changed the header, would love to hear you feedback. I am stuck at home at the moment as I managed to step on a plug and cut my foot really badly so need to keep it bandaged, dry and elevated for 5 days, so am incredibly bored of the same four walls!

I own quite a few Nars eyeshadows now, I love the duos as the colours always work so beautifully together. Nouveau Monde is one of my favourites, I picked it up last summer and it's one that I regularly reach for. If you like lilacs and greens then honestly you need to at least swatch this!

Face Of The Day - Neutral eye bright lip

I thought I better show my naked palette some love as it has been sitting in the back of my eyeshadow draw gathering dust for ages now! It was a nice sunny day for once so I went for a neutral eye with a bright lip. I have been testing out the Clarins Ever Matte foundation and I'm not sure about it to be honest, I like the coverage but it doesn't seem very matte to me, plus I think it's breaking me out so I guess the hunt for my HG foundation continues.

First Impressions and Face Of The Day Using Nars Taiga

Taiga is a duo I have wanted for a long time and a bad day at work resulted in it finally coming home with me. I was really looking forward to using it as the colours are gorgeous but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The duo is a light champagne paired with a pewter/green with gold sparkle. The champagne shade hardly showed up on me, I had to apply it wet to get any colour payoff at all. The other shade is decently pigmented. I haven't really experienced this with any other Nars eyeshadows. I am going to experiment a bit more with layering it and using different bases to see if I can get it to work. But anyway here is today's face.

You can see in the close up that even used wet the champagne shade doesn't really show up!

Rimmel 8 Hour Colour Mousse in Sassy Review and Face Of The Day

I saw this featured in one of Lisa Eldridge's videos on youtube and thought it looked gorgeous so I popped into Boots and got myself one. Sassy is a gorgeous taupe colour with a beautiful sheen. They have a bit of an odd texture, they are called Colour Mousse but to me that makes me think of a light whipped product whereas this is more of a thick liquid, that being said it applies really evenly and blends out beautifully. It dries quite quickly to an almost powder finish so you need to work fairly quickly to blend it out. This actually looks gorgeous on its own and is really fast to apply. They come in glass jars but the glass is very thick so is pretty sturdy, they have a little black insert covering the product, this helps to keep it airtight and prevents it from drying out.
The swatch above is swatched heavily on the left and blended out on the right.
This was pretty much my everyday look while I was on holiday last week as it was so quick and easy!
Products Used:
Face:
Bobbi Brown Corrector Light Bisque
No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser
Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment as contour
Mac Studio Fix Powder

Mac Charcoal Brown in crease and outer corners
Mac Blitz & Glitz Fluidline on upper lashline

I was so impressed with this I went back and picked up a couple more shades, I haven't tried it without primer underneath but with UDPP I wore it from 10am until about 11pm and it hadn't creased at all.

Nars Dogon Swatches, Review and Face Of The Day

As soon as I heard about the new Nars summer collection I knew I had to get Dogon. I have an obsession with Taupe and after hearing how impressed everyone that saw this duo at the preview event was I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The duo consists of a taupe with a green iridescence/duochrome and a charcoal with a very subtle shimmer. The taupe is gorgeous on it's own but looks even more gorgeous layered over the charcoal.
Left to right: Charcoal, Taupe, Taupe over charcoal

People have been comparing this to Club from Mac, it is similar in that it is a brown based shade with a green duochrome but as you can see from the swatch they are not really similar at all.
Nars Dogon on left, Mac Club on right

I finally got a chance to wear this duo this morning and I love it! Please excuse how tired I look in these photos, they were taken when I got home from work. The good thing is it has shown how well the products last as this is about 12 hours after I put my makeup on and the only things I touched up were the powder and lipstick.

Products Used:
Face:
Bobbi Brown Corrector Light Bisque
Bourjois Bio Detox Foundation

I also picked up the Cap Ferrat trio so will post a look using that soon!

Face of The Day using Fyrinnae Shadows

It was my Dad's birthday on Sunday and we had a few people come round for a BBQ, the weather was absolutely gorgeous and we had a lovely afternoon out in the garden. I decided to use some of my new Fyrinnae shadows as they are so sparkly that they look gorgeous in sunlight.

Face:
Bobbi Brown Corrector Light Bisque
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment as contour
Shu Uemura Colourless Setting Powder
 Illamasqua Hussy Blush

Fyrinnae Dinosaur Plushie on Lid
Fyrinnae Calavera Cupcakes
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Glitterboi mixed with Illamasqua Sealing Gel as liner on upper and lower lashlines

Lips:
Sleek Heartbreaker Lipstick

None of these pictures show you just how amazing Dinosaur Plushie really is, its contains so many different colours of shimmer that it almost looks holographic, it's definitely worth buying so you can see it in person!
I was also really impressed with the Sleek Lipstick, I ate and drank and the colour stayed on my lips really well, I didn't feel the need to re-apply at all.

Accessorize Eye Dusts as Liners

On my haul post one of my readers asked if the Accessorize Eye Dusts could be used wet so I decided to give it a try. The answer is most definately yes! I mixed these with Illamasqua's sealing gel for the swatches and the liner photos.

Swatched dry on the right and with sealing gel on the left
With Molten Truffle as liner, this is such a beautiful shade, I think it works really well as a liner.
Wild Moss as liner, using this shade wet really brings out the gold shimmer.

Eye Of The Day - Nars Tzarine Duo

No full face photo today, I really wasn't happy with any of them! Tzarine is my most worn Nars duo, it's just so easy to wear and the colours blend together beautifully. In the pan the colours don't look as if they pair together that well but on the lid they work. If I am in a rush to get out the door and just want a simple eye look this is what I usually turn to.
Products Used:
UDPP
Golden shade from Tzarine on lid and under lower lashes
Grey from Tzarine on outer corners and crease

I really should have curled my lashes, in the first photo you can hardly see them!

Face Of The Day Using Boots 17 and No7

On Wednesday it was me and my boyfriends first anniversary, we went out for a meal to celebrate. Mark really likes me wearing red lipsticks so I went for a brown smokey eye to compliment it. Friday the 11th was my 29th birthday. As it was the last one of my 20's I had to celebrate it properly! I got VERY drunk and had a great night thanks to my family and friends! My Most Used Products

I own an absolutely ridiculous amount of makeup but even though my collection is constantly growing I still find myself going back to some old faithfuls and re-purchasing. These products are my go to items that I always rely on if I don't know what to use.
Nars Laguna Bronzer: I am really pale, 99.9% of the time I am the lightest shade of foundation available and so I have always been a bit scared of bronzer. It was only once I started exploring the world of makeup I realised that I could even get away with using it. Laguna was my first purchase and one that I will definitely go back to once this one runs out, which I don't think will be long as there is so much pan showing! I use this as an all over bronzer, it just helps me look a bit more alive!

Revlon Colourstay Foundation: I own about 5 different foundations and this is the one I reach for the most and its the cheapest! This gives great coverage and tends to last on my skin well. I prefer applying this with my fingers as I find that using a brush applies it too heavily and makes it a lot harder to blend into the skin.

Mac Mineralise Skin Finish Natural: I love the finish this gives to my skin, it sets my foundation without making me look as though I am caked in makeup. I have combination skin and get oily on my t-zone and dry in other areas, this keeps the oil at bay for a good few hours and doesn't highlight any dry skin I may have.

Urban Decay Primer Potion: I have no idea how I lived without this for so long. I never apply eyeshadow without using it. I have tried other primers but I still go back to this one every time as I don't feel that anything else performs as well for me. I can apply my eyeshadow in the morning and I know that my eyeshadow will still look good when I come to taking it off before bed.

Illamasqua Hussy Bush: This is my all time favourite blush, its incredibly pigmented so only a tiny amount is needed for me to achieve a perfect natural looking flush. It lasts so much longer than all the other blushes I own that it's the one I always reach for when I know I have a long day ahead of me.

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque: My dark circles are one of the things that bug me the most, I am constantly on the search for "the" under eye concealer that will erase them. This one is the best I have found so far.

Mac Under Your Spell Mineralise Eyeshadow: This is the only eyeshadow I keep in my handbag. If I am in a rush I know I can use this eyeshadow on its own with a bit of black liner. This was a limited edition product and you can see the huge dip forming in it, I will have to find a replacement for it soon!

Covergirl Lashblast Mascara: I love this in all its different formulas, currently I am using fusion but once this is finished I have a tube of Luxe waiting for me. These are such good value and I honestly find they work better for me than any of the high end mascaras I have tried. Unfortunately they are not available in the UK but luckily for me I have a friend in the USA who sends them to me!

Mac Hot Gossip Cremesheen: This is such an easy colour to wear, it's a gorgeous pink with a subtle shimmer/sheen. As its a cremesheen it doesn't dry out my lips and I can go a good 3-4 hours without needing to re-apply.

YSL Rouge Volupte No 9 Pink Caress: Yes this was ridiculously expensive but I love the colour and it is so pigmented that I think it will last forever, or at least till it goes off! This is the most long lasting of all the lipsticks I own.

MacBlack Russian Pearlglide Liner: I love the formula of the pearlglides, they are so soft and easy to apply. They have great staying power too. This is another limited edition product but it has been re-promoted so hopefully it will be re-released before this one is sharpened down to nothing!

So those are my most used products, I would love to know what yours are!

Face Of The Day - Bronze Smoke

I have so many things in my collection that I have either used once and forgotten about or purchased in a large shop and not got round to using. One of those purchases was Mac's Bronze eyeshadow. I bought this when I was out on the shopping day during my makeup course as it's such a beautiful colour but it got put straight in a palette and forgotten about. I'm so glad I finally got round to using it today.
