Ok so this is my first entry into Mizz Worthy's Illamasqua contest.
I am a bit of a vampire nut so that was really my inspiration for this look! I am planning on doing a light look opposite to this one!

Urban Decay Primer Potion vs Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Hey!

So today I did a little experiment, I wanted to see if there was any difference between Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion. I have used UDPP for about a year now and have always been happy with it but I really wanted to try TFSI as the packaging is so much better! I blogged yesterday about the free gift in boots when you spend £15 on Too Faced so it was the perfect opportunity to try it and I have to say I was really shocked with the results! This photo was taken when I got home tonight at 7.30 and my make up had been on since 8.30 this morning. The shadows I am wearing are from the Coastal Scents 88 matte palette, I thought it would be a better test on cheaper shadows rather than MAC!

Now the difference doesn't show up so well in the photo as it does in reality, the UDPP eye has completely faded in the crease but the TFSI looks pretty much the same as it did this morning!! I am really shocked! I do have very oily lids and had been told that UDPP was better for that but as the picture shows that is just not true!

I have an almost full tube of UDPP that I am currently using plus a giant sized one from a Boots set that is unused that I am now thinking of swapping/selling so I can buy TFSI!

I have seen so many amazing bands, to me there is nothing better than the atmosphere at a great gig! I have seen The Goo Goo Dolls so many times and twice in America at New Years eve and I have to say that every gig is amazing, I have also been lucky enough to meet them a few times and they are lovely down to earth guys! Some of the other bands I have seen and loved are Bon Jovi, 30 Seconds To Mars, Matchbox Twenty, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Queen, Linkin Park-the list goes on! I was lucky enought to see Metallica for the first time last night and they were awesome! I am still half deaf today though!

Drugstore Mini Haul

Firstly I wanna apologise for lack of blogging! My Nan had a triple bypass operation and I have had the flu, I should be around more from now on!

So last week I went to Boots on my lunch break and noticed they had an offer on Too Faced, if you spend £15 you get a free GWP.
I picked up two of the new Lockdown cream eye shadows. These are infused with shadow insurance so work great as an eyeshadow base! I picked up Bondage which is a gorgeous shimmery beige and I'm Guilty which is a teal blue. Here are some swatches

I have had a chance to try these and I wore them as bases without a primer underneath and at the end of the day my shadow had not creased and still looked good.

So this is the free gift you get, it comes with a little pink bag, a mini Shadow Insurance, Mini glitter eyeliner and a lipgloss. I currently use UDPP and really wanted to try shadow insurance so thought this was the perfect opportunity!

Boots are currently giving out a £2 off selected cosmetics voucher when you spend £5 so I picked up this new mineral powder from Bourjois, its on offer anyway so it ended up costing £3 something (Sorry can't find the receipt!)

I was thinking about picking up MAC's MSF natural but thought I would give this a try first as obviously its much cheaper and I have to say I really like it! Might buy a back up now while its on offer. There are a few negatives with this though, the powder itself has a bit of a floral smell which I don't like, but you only smell this when you apply it then it fades and also the packaging. You have to press the catch in to open it and the mirror in mine was cracked! I used tweezers to pull the mirror out and its fine but just be careful if you do get this!

Covergirl Lash Blast Vs Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara!

Hi!

When I was in New York at New Years I managed to pick up Lash Blast Mascara and I love it! Unfortunately its not available anywhere in the UK and I was having visions of me bringing back 10 when I go in April! Then when I was in Boots I saw Max Factor False Lash Effect and the packaging is pretty much the same apart from the colour!! So obviously I picked one up as I really wanted to do a comparison!
So here is a comparison photo of the packaging

And here is a comparison of the brushes, as you can see they are pretty much exactly the same!

Personally I do think they are different, I'm sorry about the difference in quality of the pictures my camera was playing up! My personal opinion is that the Lashblast makes my lashes look much thicker whereas False Lash effect is not so thickening but makes them look longer!

The difference is not huge and I will definately not be worrying about bulk buying when I am in the states!

PS: I just placed my Hello Kitty order, I was going to get stuff from Selfridges tomorrow but I saw that some things are already sold out on the website so thought I would play it safe! I spent way more than I should have and this definately needs to be my last purchase for awhile! Although its my birthday next week so I might be able to do some guilt free shopping next weekend! Will post pictures of what I got when it arrives and also the other things I picked up over the last couple of weeks!!

NYX Haul!

I am so behind!!!! Spent way too much money last week and this is the first of 3 hauls, I also have a mini MAC haul and some more ELF stuff. There will be no shopping this week though as I will be spending enough on Hello Kitty next week!!!

Anyway, after hearing so much about NYX I really wanted to try them. When I was in New York in January I looked all over for them but couldn't find them anywhere! Then a couple of weeks ago Lollipop26 posted a video about an online store that sells NYX products! I went over and placed an order and it arrived yesterday, the postage was really reasonable. Anyway the website is http://www.mscuppycakes.com/ and I would highly recommend both it and the products! So here is what I got and some swatches without a base.

These are the Jumbo eyepencils, they make great bases!

These are the round lipsticks, they are really nice and since they are only $1.25 you can't really go wrong!


There is a huge selection of these on the website and also all the other types of makeup NYX do and they are all really reasonably priced, they are actually cheaper than on the NYX website. They also stock Red Cherry eyelashes and they are only $2!!

Hope this helps anyone that was looking for these products! If you have tried NYX let me know if there is anything I must have or that you would recommend!

Everyday Minerals Haul

I was so happy to come home today and see my Everyday Minerals package had arrived! When you place an order you can also get a free sample kit with 3 foundations, 1 blush and a concealer.
I ordered the sample kit and 4 eyeshadows and I have to say I am really impressed!!! The whole order including shipping came to about £12.
I got a mix of types of foundation in different finishes, the original glo gives a really nice dewy finish and Intensive gives more coverage. I have to say I have read reviews saying these are really hard to buff in to the skin but I honestly haven't found this. I also got the sunlight concealer and this is amazing on under eye circles!!

I ordered the eyeshadows in sample size (1g) they were only $2.50 each and this is a comparison in size to a Gosh effect powder.

I am really really impressed with these shadows, they are great value for money! To be honest I think you get more than enough in the sample size!

New No7 Brushes!!!

I went into boots (UK Drugstore) today and I noticed that No7 have some new brushes, a couple of these are very similar to MAC brushes so I have taken a couple of pictures to compare! Obviously these brushes are much cheaper than MAC but they are synthetic. These brushes are £6 each!!!! Hopefully I can save someone some money!!!

Ok the first one is No7 Blend & Contour brush, as soon as I saw this I thought of the MAC 217! This is not quite as fluffy as that one but it is actually softer. This has synthetic bristles though. I have the Holiday Short Handled 217 and they are about the same size, here is a picture of the two together!


The other brush is the No7 Smokey Eyeliner brush, this does the same job as the MAC 219. Its a bit smaller than the MAC brush but that is better really as it allows more precise application of shadow, especially to the lower lash line as I sometimes find the the 219 gives a really thick line!

ELF haul!!

My ELF order arrived this morning yay!!! I saw loads of reviews of these products on here and thought I would give them a go! Me and my Mum did a joint order so we got the free shipping for spending over £30! For those of you that don't know everything at ELF (Excluding Mineral products) is £1.50! For that you really can't go wrong!!!
Anyway, this is what I got and my opinion on them...

From top to bottom:

Brightening eyeshadow in Luxe and Drama, I really wasn't expecting much from these! You get 4 shadow shades and I have to say they are really pigmented! I really love the Drama pallette, there is a gorgeous dark grey!!
Duo Eye shadow cream in Black Licorice, to be honest this was the only product I was not amazed with, the colour pay off is not great and you need to put a lot on to get decent coverage and with cream shadows there is always the risk of creasing the thicker it is!
Dramatic Eyelashes, these are fine for £1.50, they are really long so might need a bit of a trim but they are fine!
Elf custom eye pallette, this was £1.50 and the best thing is it fits MAC shadows!!! So I picked up 4 pan shadows to fill it and save myself a bit of money!

As you can see they fit fine!!! The colours in there are Knight Divine, Contrast, Silver Ring and Twinks!

And more ELF! Natural radiance blusher in Innocence, this is really nice, its not chalky and is a gorgeous light pink colour.

Healthy glow bronzing powder in Luminance, this is not really a bronzer, its more of a highlighter as its really shimmery, its great for that purpose though!

Eyeshadow brush, this is a nice brush, the bristles are soft and its got a nice long handle!

2 Moisture care lip colours in Bark and Pink Lemonade, this are really nice and they smell minty!

Hypershine lipshine in Fairy, this is a gorgeous shimmery pink and it smells like candy floss!!!

Overall I would really recommend trying ELF products, considering the price they are really good quality and the shipping is really fast!!

Shopping!!!

Ok, so here are the things I picked up today

I couldn't resist these Harajuku Lovers perfumes by Gwen Stefani, there are 5 perfumes but these three were my favourites, I got Love, Music and G. These were £19.50 each for 30mls, if you buy all 5 you get a stand to put them in but I actually don't like the other fragrances. I'm glad I had some boots points so I could treat myself!!!

Then I picked up some make up bits, Boots currently have an offer on No7, if you spend £18 you get a free gift, I also had a £5 off voucher so that made it a bit cheaper! I got Protect and Perfect Hand cream (£10.50), my hands really suffer in the winter so this was essential! And the eyeshadow trio in Twilight (£9ish) then I got a L'oreal Chrome Shine eyeshadow in Starry Black, its a goregous black with gold shimmer. It is VERY shimmery though so if you don't like that then you might want to ignore that shadow!

This is the contents of the gift with purchase, you get a really good mix of products all in trial size and a full size lipstick, the lipsticks are random colours.
And finally I got this, I have a severe Twilight obsession! I am waiting for some official merchandise to arrive but I picked this up from ebay for about £2.50, I love it!!!!
